Session #4 Description -

Classroom 8:30 - 10:30am

Review of all major concepts - coaching eggbeater, essential body positioning, passing, shooting and ball control for all age groups and levels. Revisit aspects of swimming, body strength, flexibility and nutrition. Teaching and coaching team concepts, offense, defense, counter attack, man up at all levels; what is important to stress and focus on.

 

1 - Discuss the flow of a training session -

Beginning, middle and end of practice and what to focus on at each stage

 

2 - With limited time in the water, what practice plan is most efficient -

Each level of team has an importance more than another for growth and progression and retention of players in a growing and expanding sport.

 

3 - Coaching the upper level teams -

What is necessary to demonstrate and stress during senior training

How the importance of fundamentals can improve the teams' performance drastically

 

4 - Senior Level practice and what to expect -

Fundamentals are essential

Tactics as a majority of the practice

Structuring the season into 3 phases and working on these areas as a focus

 

5 - What to coach while practice is in flow

How to work backwards from senior level to youth level regarding coaching

How to bring youth players to the senior level and what needs to be stressed

 

6 - Overview of a senior level training session focusing on the 6 aspects of the game and where to stress and which drills in the hand outs are important for each aspect of the practice and game to work on.

1030 - 1100am  Dry Land stretching and warm up

1100 - 1230pm

Quick 10 minute warm up

Team counter attack drill - 3 on 2, 4 on 3, 5 on 4

Continuous team counter attack drill - 4 on 3, 5 on 4

Team Defense - Press defense, 4 drop defense

Team Offense - Drive offense, 2m offense, post up offense

Team Man Up Offense - 6 in rotation

Team Man Up Defense - sliding shot blocking defense

 

Illustrating what drills at the youth level to stress and work on for the aspects at the senior level that need focus. During this final training session, all coaches will be shown the drills and focus of attention in the hand outs that teams can work on to better their skills and team at their age level and abilities throughout the year.
